Sony files mobile patent infringement complaint against LG

Sony has filed a patent infringement complaint against LG with the U.S. International Trade Commission (U.S. ITC). Sony believes that some of LG’s modems and phones, including the LG VL600, the Fathom, and the Xenon, are infringing on seven of its patents. One patent is related to photo-based caller ID, Bloomberg is reporting. Other patents were related to how users can take photos with phones, when audio begins recording, and how phones transmit and encode audio depending on the amount of bandwidth available. Sony said that Nokia, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson all license the technology that’s being used by LG. LG has asked that the U.S. ITC block the import of those aformentioned products in the U.S.
