ARM Powered LEGO/Nokia 4×4x4 Rubik’s Cube Solver

Possibly the first ever 4×4x4 LEGO Rubik’s Cube solver? This Rubik’s Cube solver was designed and programmed using a Nokia N95 mobile phone, a LEGO Mindstorms NXT and lots of LEGO technic pieces!

Because you’re probably an idiot, and can’t solve it yourself?

@mythtesters5 - see my response to DannySaiz… I recently uploaded a video to my channel of my new “MultiCuber” solver solving a 5×5x5 cube :-)

@MennoGorter - thanks! :-) Interesting observation. Perhaps it could be modified to solve a 5×5x5 but it would require a mechanical change for different layer thicknesses (MultiCuber can do this under software control). It can only manipulate two layers since the grip and lift mechanism are tied together (via a differential) so it couldn’t be used directly for anything larger than 5×5x5. MultiCuber is much faster and can solve a 4×4x4 in about 4 mins compared with 19 mins for this one.

David; comparing this design to your new 5×5x5-solver:
This one seems to be able to solve the 5×5x5 as well?
( And bigger ones with minor modifications… )
And it might be a bit faster too, because of the different turning mechanism?
Only the use of older red universal-joints and newer bevelled-gears would be much more reliable… ;-)
    Both models are very impressive!

@DannySaiz - I appreciate your comment about designing a machine to solve a rubik’s cube… You may be interested to see the LEGO “MultiCuber” on my channel solve a 5×5x5 Rubik’s cube :-)
