Twitter launches official Android app for Android 2.1 smartphones

Today Twitter launched its official Android client. The free software is now available in the Android Market and allows you to share status updates, websites, photos, videos, and your location. Twitter worked with the Android team directly on the application and says that this is “just the beginning.” Twitter plans to enhance the way we read and share with Twitter on Android. Unfortunately, it only works on phones running Android 2.1 or newer. You’ll find a large gallery of photos of Twitter for Android on our sister site, AndroidAuthority.com.
